Report from the Open Door Event 2008
On 6th September 2008 it was time to open our doors to visitors and animals friends alike (we shot many photos this day) and we were delighted to greet approximately 300 people.
Our animal careers were busy answering questions about our Shelter animals and there was much activity in both the cat and dog houses. We were especially thankful for the many food donations but also financial donations were gratefully received, many many thanks.
Some of our resident dogs made sure all eyes were on them when they showed off some of their many talents. In particular we were proud that none of the dogs showed any sign of fear considering the many people present, in fact, many of the dogs very much enjoyed the attention coming from all sides and the chance to play a little extra ball.
In between the many activities the Herrmann family made sure that everyone was well taken care of offering sausages, coffee and delicious cakes. A special show was on the programme from the Boxer Sports Club e.V. that introduced their dogs and accompanied by their handlers showed what their well trained dogs are able to do.
The smaller visitors enjoyed a visit from the Groß Döbbern Volunteer Fire fighters and also in the painting area there was always something exciting going on.
We hope everyone had a good time and we hope to see you again next year.
The many donations received on the day, a total amount of 1108 Euro, will be spent on covering the costs of our dog "Paly's" very urgent operation.
A BIG BIG THANK YOU to all who made donations and of course also to all who helped out and made this event possible. Thanks to you we had a wonderful day together.
With this Slide-Show we would like to share some of the great moments with you. Enjoy!
