Project Lisa needs Help

We would like to thank all the kind people who let little Lisa into their hearts!

We are very pleased to inform you that on 23 September 2010 we were able to close ‘’Project Lisa needs help”. A total of 1,370.00 EUR were donated to ensure that Lisa could get the care and treatment she so desperately needed. Due to all the kind donations we have now settled the big Vet bill and there is even a small amount left to help cover Lisa’s second operation which is needed to remove the stabilising metal parts in her paw.

We are especially grateful that Lisa has found a permanent Sponsor who will help us take care of Lisa here at the Tierschutzligadorf until she finds a loving forever-home. We hope it will not take long before little Lisa will capture the hearts of a loving family. Until that day comes we would like to extend a very big THANK YOU to Frau Voigt for the wonderful support. On behalf of Lisa, many many thanks.

The history of "Project Lisa needs Help"

Changeing Lisas bandage

During our last trip to a Polish Shelter at the of June we spotted this little female dog. She looked like she was in pain and as we took a closer look we could see serious bite wounds on the left front paw, if fact, so bad that the paw was broken! For a week this little dog had been placed in the Shelter's "sick station" without any proper treatment of the wounds. The paw was swollen and full of infection. We can only try to imagine the pains suffered by this little girl and it is amazing that she has not yet died from blood poisoning.

But it was clear to us that the little dog, now named Lisa, had a strong will to live and we simply had to step in and help her out of a situation before it was too late and to relieve her from further suffering

We took Lisa with us back to Germany and immediately made sure she got the medical care she needed. The Vets now fight to save her broken paw but considering her young age, she is not even one year old, she should have a good chance to recover. Lisa will need a major operation once the infection has gone.

Changeing Lisas bandage

As it always is with such awful emergency situations, one first reaction is to get the animal out of the bad situation and only secondly consider the enormous costs related to such extensive treatment! Alone the emergency treatment of Lisa's wounds in order to save her paw amounts to EUR 200. The first treatment will have to be followed by surgery which is estimated to cost a further EUR 1000.

Will you help us help Lisa? 1000 Euro will give this wonderful little dog a new lease of life but we need your help!

Lisa has shown herself to be a sweet little dog. Even in the hands of the Vet she was wagging her tail and licking our hands as if she knew that we were trying to help her.

Lisa tries to walk

Update 14.08.2010: Lisa is now back at the Tierschutzliga-Dorf. The infection in her leg is healing, at least on the outside of her leg! Unfortunately also the bone is infected and she is treated with strong medicine. At the moment she is wearing a special plaster which will allow her broken foot to be in a stabil position. The plaster is being changed every two days in order to treat the infection.

Update 04.09.2010: Since the last update about Lisa all open wounds have now healed. Lisa still has to wear plaster so that the paw is stabilised. A new X-ray will be made in the very near future to ensure that the paw is healing the way it is supposed to. One more operation will be needed to take out the screw which now holds her leg together as she would otherwise not be able to walk. We will have to wait with the operation as we simply can’t afford it at the moment. A large amount was paid out to cover the treatment for Leo’s operation earlier.

Update 23.09.2010: Project Lisa can now be closed.
