Cora
To adopt since 11-03-2009
Description changed at 31-10-2009
- German Sheppard
- female, castrated
- born approx. 1999
For many years Cora lived as a trusted yard dog but after the death of her owner the family could no longer stay on their farm and Cora was handed over to our care. What the former owner had not noticed was that Cora was in fact very ill and she must have lived in great pain for quite some time!
Upon Cora’s arrival at the Shelter our examinations quickly showed that she suffered from a skin condition, a severe ear infection which caused her ears to run with fluids and on her legs we found very bad open wounds. Cora was screaming with pain and tried to bite as soon as we tried to touch her stomach and ears. Only after giving her pain relief was it possible to examine her further!
Since Cora is still in great pain a special examination to be conducted by a specialist Vet must be done and can no longer wait! We therefore ask for your kind help so that Cora can finally live a life free of constant pain. We don’t know exactly how much the examination will amount to as well as special food and further treatments!
If you would like to help Cora then please fill out the attached sponsorship form and send it to us.
Cora is a wonderful, loving and trusting dog. She can have a good life for many years to come so please help us help Cora so she can finally have the life she deserves.
Update 11.04.09: Cora has again been examined by a Veterinarian and it is likely that she suffers from a food allergy. She is now on a special diet which she seems to have fully accepted. In the last couple of weeks she has also been treated with antibiotics which were necessary to treat a bad bacterial infection on her skin. The treatments seem to have had the desired effect and Cora is now free of pain and for the first time she allows us to touch her stomach and ears.
The costs of Cora’s treatment come to approx. EUR 150.00 and in addition there are costs of EUR 30.00 every month for special food. In order to continue to provide for Cora’s special needs we are looking for kind people who would be willing to help sponsor Cora with a monthly amount.
Update 25.06.2009: Thanks to two wonderful sponsors we were able to cover the full expenses for Cora’s treatment. We also thank you for covering the food expenses for the months of April and May. Many many thanks.
Update October 2009: Cora had to undergo an operation in the beginning of October 2009 as a new open wound had been found on her skin. Cora has recovered well from the operation and at the same time she was castrated. We are looking for kind people who will help contribute to cover the costs of Cora’s operation which amounts to EUR 400.00.
